Convolution Reverb Dry/Wet and EQ reset

Post by Syler Timon » Sun Jan 19, 2020 7:26 pm

Every time I open up Ableton my Dry/Wet knob and EQ are always turned off. This is very annoying when I have multiple Convolution
reverbs because I Need to go reset every single one and EQ it again. Getting very irritated with MAX when this happens.

Yes, I have made sure I am. I downloaded Max 8.1.2 and did it a second time to make sure. It seems to happen when I am running 10+ instances, but that shouldn't affect it when it saves.

If you're sure that these parameters aren't automated, then it's maybe worth contacting support@ableton.com

I just encountered the same bug (and I believe it's not the first time).
Size and Decay down to 0% when loading a saved set.
The live set contains 2 Convolution Reverb devices.

The other day, with one of my devices, some parameters were not recalled correctly as well (just some live.text objects).

I am very concerned about this issue.

That's an issue that used to happen with older versions but was fixed quite some time ago (around L10 or before).
So you're better off reporting to support@ableton.com

I just started touring, and I need time to investigate. I got to admit that I'm a bit confused about :
- Max version / Live version
- If the device has been "collected & saved" within the project, do I need to update it with a newer version of the Convolution Reverb.

Yeah, I’ve seen your name on a few concerts newsletters recently
Yes, you’d better off hot swapping the collect and save versions for the latest one (the one from the Convolution Reverb Live Pack).
As long as your Live 10 is up to date and’ it is set to use the embedded Max then you can be sure that Max is the latest too (well, almost the latest, there’s often a point version difference but that’s not an issue).

Thanks, I’ll do that when I’ve got enough time between two gigs for testing everything out.

I just happened with a set using the device from the library, not collected and saved. I should point out the the Browser lists two different devices for Convolution Reverb and Convolution Reverb Pro, if it matters. No idea why.

Here's a copy of mail mail to the support :

Hi,

I've been facing this issue for a few years now, and it seems, from the forum, that I'm not alone.

Sometimes, loading a set that contains a Convolution Reverb unit, the decay an size parameters are set to 1% (lowest value) while they were saved at 100% (default value).
Reloading it gives the same result. In other terms, when it happens, it's saved.

It just happens and I investigated a bit :
- I opened the live set, decay and size parameters were wrongly set to 1%.
- I didn't do anything, but loaded a previous version of the live set, that contained the same Convolution Reverb unit with the same setting.
- As a result, I witnessed that all the sets in this project were "corrupted".
- I opened another live set from another project, no error.
- Restarted the computer, the "corrupted" sets would load with the error.

Live 10.1.9, using the bundled Max.
Mac OS 10.13.3

Thanks for paying attention, it's quite a serious issue.

i just mad a test

put the new yellow Convolution Reverb Pro in a track, turn Decay to 1% > the waveform and the sound changes.
Save the Set.

Reload Set.
The Decay Dail is at 1% but the Waveforum look´s like Decay 100% und Sounds like Decay 100%.

The time before Saving is displayed 0.07 sec at Decay 1% after reloading the the Set the time is 5.27 sec displayed at Decay 1%.

This only happens with the Pro Version

Win 10 Live 10.1.13
copy the text, open Live > drag in empty M4L device > open Max editor > paste > save M4L device

The Pro seems to have the same bug here as well, but I tend not to use it too much.
I’m really concerned about this. I love CR so much but considering a VST alternative, if any.

Happened again. I'm in touch with the support, but I'm just sick of it.

I'm looking for advice for a VST replacement. Looking mainly for natural hall reverbs and "vintage" spring reverbs.
