Push not recognized by Ableton

I'm pretty sure my Push is defective. It should at least power on with just USB, right?

It should power up via USB only, yes, but there is always the possibility that the USB port is not supplying enough power.

Try This:

- Connect a plug pack to Push but do NOT connect to the PC just yet
- Switch on Push (again without it connected. What do you see at this point?
- Connect the USB cable to the PC. Does the notebook recognised a USB device is connected?
- Start Live

If the computer recognises a USB device but Live doesn't seem too, make sure in the MIDI preferences you have PUSH set as a control surface in one of the slots

As the above or the Live Forum here (see - https://www.ableton.com/en/articles/pus ... ecognized/) didn't work for me, the following did:

1) Close Live but leave Push plugged in (I used USB and power)
2) Re-install Live from the download file (on Mac for me was the .dmg file)
3) At prompt, remove old version and reinstall new (rather than update)
4) Open Live, and at prompt Re-authorise with your serial number (and this is where it makes the difference I think, as it authorises after recognising that your Push is plugged in rather than authorising separately if you just go to the website when for example you don't have Push plugged in)
5) Viola - it recognised Push finally !!

If the suggestions already posted in this thread do not work for you, your best bet is going to be contacting support@ableton.com.

Not trying to be funny but make sure the usb cable is in all the way on the Push. It kind of clicks in. I had this problem the first time too.
