I've been lead to believe that a major advantage of using native plug-ins is that their latency etc can be handled by the DAW better than non-native plug-ins where the data 'leaves' Live's domain, gets processed and is sent back to Live.
Live can't calculate circular latencies in general.
So in an example where a Return track with Send activated, so that it can send to itself.
Lets imagine there's a Compressor on that return track (!) with lookahead of 10ms. Now, that lookahead is usually latency compensated, but here we have it sending to itself and it looks ahead 10, then it sends to itself again and looks ahead 10 , and again, and again ... So it's impossible to accurately calculate latency to offset. So in this case Ableton deactivates the latency correction for those tracks which are potentially in a feedback situation. So we should only do that on audio streams in which synch is unimportant (such as reverb or multi-delays)
Because if Ableton tries to calculate it then their daughter becomes their mother, in an infinite circle.
