IAC Driver, Live 10.1.2 and macOS Catalina

Post by il claptones » Thu Sep 24, 2020 2:19 pm

Hello dear people,

because of Logic Pro my macOS must always be up-to-date. After a longer break, however, I now want to work with Ableton Live again, because I use the extension possibility with IAC Driver. So far I had Live 9 and now I'm not sure if I should upgrade to Live 10. As far as I understand, Live 9 is no longer compatible with the latest MacOS, but Live 10.1.2 is compatible again, isn't it?

If that's correct, my real question is for those who have experience with IAC Driver and Live 10.1.2 on Mac:

>> Are the IAC Driver and Live 10.1.2 compatible with MacOS Catalina or not? Are there any problems or do these three together work perfectly like in the good old days of the older macOS :?: :?: :?: <<

Live 10 certainly works with Catalina.

As for LoopBe1, isn’t that Windows only?

You are of course absolutely right. I have already corrected my subject and my text:

I did not mean LoopBe1, but the IAC driver. I confused the two names.

It's already been two years since I used the IAC driver with Live. The IAC driver is a virtual Midi Device, which is already integrated in the MacOS and only needs to be activated. LoopBe1 is about the same, but you are right, it is a pure Windows extension.

Well, since Live 10.1.2 is obviously fully compatible with the new macOS again, my question is perhaps superfluous. But before I upgrade to Live 10.1.2, I would like to have confirmation from others who are working with the IAC driver:

I’ve not found any issues with the IAC driver.
