I don't know if I make the upgrade; after three years and on version 10.1.25 stepping to 11 for another € 159.......
+1 here, It looks like a great update but should be 10.5 or something...I bought Ableton suite a year ago as it was version 10.1. I thought that it would grant me free updates for a while..I was wrong

Everyone was upset because it took 5 years (or more?) for Live10, but now this one was too quick. :?
Back in the early Live versions, the 1 (1/2) year turnaround was quite usual.

I get that it can be upsetting for some that this means spending cash once more. But please remember what huge free point updates we got with Live 9. Live 10.1 was quite big too...

Does anybody know the minimum requirements of Live 11?

Live 10 Mac minimum requirements was OS10.11.
I'm hoping Live 11 will be compatible with OS 10.11 as thats the last OS supported on the 8 core cheese grater.

I don't really want to buy a new Mac just to use live 11 considering theses nothing wrong with the Mac iv'e got. :D

I'm going to do what I always do : purchase my license to grumble at the earliest opportunity.

Sure, they should have added a few of these bits to L10.2. Sure they are shafting us a bit. But have you observed nothing? This is purgatory we exist in, not heaven. Things are meant to be 59% annoying/disappointing by nature of existing here. The only way out is to munch joyfully upon the parts of the sandwich that are not poop.

It will be fine. I'll pay the money and pretend I paid an electric bill. I'll get a spectral whatsit and a followy thingy. I'll get some new stuff to complain about. What could be better?

Looking at the behaviour of the new comp feature it looks like all it would need to be able to double as a looper for live use would be to be able to monitor all the lanes at once as it records. Is this going to be possible?

Nobody-asked-story time!
About a decade ago I got invited to Ableton HQ for a chat, partially about the crappy looper VST I made back then. They asked me what I thought about the idea of a Looper in Live and I said "It would be best to do it as a sort of comping feature with a looping UI exposed as a device, that way you kill two birds with one stone. Looping and Comping.A device Looper means it's too difficult to edit and record parameter changes / audio. " and they said "...Ah, ooh, mmm". They'd just finished the Live Looper.
Awkward face on me.
Naturally the resultant device far better than mine as it was made by Claes who actually knows what he's doing, but unfortunately my prediction was correct. Live Looper can't be controlled recorded or the performance edited

tl;dr I AGREE

Eh, I just upgraded straight away, at first thinking "nah". Then I saw it's only gonna cost me £111. If this version lives for about three years before another version is sold, it will cost me just over £3 per month. This amount is so trivial even thinking about upgrading or not was wasteful, shameful, regrettable.

Plus, I really need comping.

Count me as one of the impressed. Pleasantly surprised to see Follow Actions get some love.
Also really happy that MPE finally came, as well as comping. This is a great update for Live users.

My only question it's the Apple event where they're pretty obviously going to announce new Apple Silicon chips in most likely laptops. Live 11 getting Apple Silicon support or is it going to be running in Rosetta?

Yes, Live Suite 10. It stated a 20% VAT included discount due to the preordering, reducing £179 to £111 (which is way more than 20%!).

"Thank you for your order.

Pre-ordered items:

1 x Live 11 Suite (Upgrade) -- GBP 111.00

Total: GBP 111.00"

This looks marvelous. Thank you Ableton! I've been asking for comping and MPE support for many years, and this update looks oriented towards deeper users, which I appreciate. The devices based off of natural systems look whimsical in the best way.

While it would've been nice to get a 11.5 update first, I did the math and I'm paying about $5 / month for the last few years for Ableton Live Suite. For basically a piece of magic, that allows me to express myself in bewildering ways. I get so much satisfaction from recording music into Ableton. We live in a golden age, in some respects, I think it's easy to forget that.

I love thanking the musician that make amazing music, so it's worth thanking the developers that enable better music. Y'all are doing amazing work, thank you.
