Has SC Compression been fixed in v11?

Post by SvenH » Sun Dec 20, 2020 4:27 pm

Or will I still have to use v8 compressor to get a clean side chain without clicks?

Would you be able to send me a project demonstrating this?
Could report it via an alpha forum.
I've been using SC and haven't noticed this.

There's nothing to be fixed...
"Live 9" Compressor simply is faster and that's why some people thought it wasn't working correctly. Slow down the attack and you'll see that it works and is actually more flexible than the "L8" one.
It's been discussed here a while ago, and I demonstrated it with clear examples. I'm too lazy right now to find it back, but I'll try to search for it later if you don't find it.

I am not able to get as good results with the Live 10 compressor as I get the with the Live 8 compressor just by slowing down the attack. In order to get the SC click free with the Live 10 compressor, I have to slow down the attack to a point where the entire ducking is too slow.

I searched your older posts for the demonstration you wrote about but I could not find it. If you can find it, I would be grateful. I would be happy to learn how to use the L10 compressor to get click free SC.

Thanks,
Sven

I have created a small project, but I don't know how to send it to you. I don't know how to attach files to posts or messages?

Its weird how I have been avoiding the clicks. Or I might only use fairly mild sidechaining to not notice the popping.

What settings are you using?

I found that RMS mode produces less pops.

Peak mode and short attack to get fast ducking. It seems impossible to get as fast ducking without clicks as you can get with the Live 8 Compressor in FF1 mode.

Yes, but you get slower ducking than you would get with the Live 8 compressor in FF1 mode.

This! Just found out about the live 8 compressors and tried it while sidechaining my bass and it instantly fixed the "popping / clicking" for me! I used ff1 mode with a fast attack and fast/medium release. It sounds extremely clean on the bass! I would love an option to change the types of compressors inside the windows. Maybe even a "right click".
