Grouped Tracks & Exporting Stems Doubt

Post by Zounds » Tue Jan 19, 2021 8:56 am

https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/artic ... ting-stems

I came across this article but I'm still with some doubts. (Perhaps because of my lack of knowledge related to English)
Could someone clarify, please?

So... I have some tracks grouped and I have some effects on the group.
The export will always get the efx and level from the group?
No matter the option selected in the export? If I select "Export all individual" or "Selected only" it will always get the group efx and level?

How do I get the tracks un-affected by the group level and efx?
Only if I delete the group?

Thank you very much.

Either by
- deactivate the group track efx (and automations), set its volume fader to 0dB and then choose an export option that corresponds (e.g select the group track and then choose "selected only" etc...)
- you could also route the tracks to the master for example (and deactivate the Master's efx), solo these tracks, an choose to export "Master only".

There's probably an other half-dozen ways to get the same results, but hopefully you'll find one that works for you from these examples.

I thought that would be another option but makes sense.

Thank you so much for the clarification.
