Adding something to a recording (Beginner)

Post by ronald82 » Sun Jan 31, 2021 11:49 am

I'm using a MIDI Keyboard and Ableton Live Lite 10.

How would I go about adding a simple "clapping noise" (or beat) to an already existing recorded arrangement.
Every time I've tried, it records over what I already have... I just want to add more to what's already there. Thoughts?

Thanks!

you could create a new Midi track just for the claps and put them in wherever you like. Theres probably another way, but im also a very new beginner...

Sweet! I forgot about that. I can just drag it for arrangement view.

Thanks!! :)

But if anyone else has any suggestions, I'm all ears!

The + button to the right of the arrangement recording button does that.
Although either it's buggy or I'm not using it properly because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't...
Even when it works it's a little clumsy. You have to keep consolidating because it splits the clip wherever you stop recording.
