Switching Compression Mid-Arrangement

Post by DukeOfLizards » Sun Feb 21, 2021 12:50 am

I have a drum track where one Glue Compressor (Drum- Rock Parallel Room) sounds better through a majority of the track except for the main build/drop, where I'm finding a different Glue Compressor (Drum- Gentle Sidechain EQ) is sounding better, particularly on the claps. Anything "wrong" with automating to have these compressors switch up mid-arrangement? Thoughts?

The way it sounds good to you is the right way to do it.

Nothing wrong at all; just do what sounds good to you.

That’s possibly the best thing you could do.

“The track ain’t gonna mix itself!”

:D
