Ableton 11 CPU load
Ableton 11 CPU load
Hi guys I just got the M1 MBP and Ableton 11, the cpu overloads all the time and for nothing, when doing nothing it's always at like 15%, when hitting notes with the wavetable it goes at 28%, while playing just one single clip it goes to more than 50% and the sound sometimes even crashes.
Does anybody have a solution because I'm desperate.

Live is not yet optimized for the M1 Macs, you will have to wait for an update before it doesn't run in Rosetta2 unfortunately.

I got an M1 for a client , we´re running ableton intro 11 on Big sur 11.4 and using Antares auto tune artist 9, latest version.
The only issue we´ve been dealing is when opening automation lanes to edit some parameters for the auto tune , Ableton Hangs, we need to restart Ableton. Apart from that, and not being yet Native its been stable .

Re: Ableton 11 CPU load
Dont have a solution for you but I see similar CPU usage here on an Intel i7 Mac mini. 20 tracks with minimal plugins, and Im already hitting 30-40%. At that point if I add the right instrument or plugin I can get it start crackling and popping. I dont run into problems too much with it, but it does seem very inefficient. A 32 track project of just audio clips and simpler tracks will bring it up to about 50% CPU, where the same sized project in Logic Pro wouldn't even be blinking on the CPU meter.
Ill admit, I still dont quite understand the CPU meter, most of the time its running between 30-40% and its fine, but like I said if I add much more, or the right plugin, I can make it start crapping out. I had one project running about 30 tracks, replaced one of my Simpler tracks with a single instance of Pigments playing a fairly simple pad, pops and clicks throughout the song during playback. Cant really compare it to 10 either, I didn't buy it until 11 came out so all my previous experience is with older 'Lite' versions. Pigments alone seems about 10x heavier in Ableton than it does in Logic Pro or even standalone. Seems to run ok with just its own tracks but something about AU plugins (I rarely use the VST versions) drags it down for me.

Re: Ableton 11 CPU load
The cpu meter measures the performance of a single core in relation to the size of the audio buffer. The smaller the buffer, the more CPU load. It's so easy to understand.
CPU AMD 9 3900X / CHIPSET AMD X570 / 32GB RAM 3200Mhz / GPU Nitro+ SE RX6900XT16GB / SSD 3TB, HDD 4TB / WIN10 20H2

does anybody has any cpu-benefits with the new version (11.0.5)? maybe I'm stupid, but its all the same as before.... maybe next update...

Re: Ableton 11 CPU load
It says they’ve optimized some FX but that’s it. What were you hoping for?

serious or irony?jonljacobi wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 12:30 amIt says they’ve optimized some FX but that’s it. What were you hoping for?
hopefully irony....
if not: customer satisfaction?! over 90% have problems with performance and dont need a corrected "wrong note" in a demo song... what we need is "no artefacts" when we make music!!! in future, if anyone is playing live with this ... -> have fun. this will be your last gig ...
