How do you delay a certain part of a lead melody that has built-in reverb?

Post by surgeanthem » Fri Jul 23, 2021 9:58 am

Hi again,
So I tried to have the last phrase of a lead delayed to a full bar, but part of the last note was tagged on in the delay because of the reverb that already exists in the preset (I cannot change it). Is there any way to do this or should I use a different synth with more parameter control?

I don't really understand your problem.
Are you talking about an audio loop?

Just in general, try to get the sound right at record time rather than "fix it in the mix".

No, it's a preset on the synth Analog Lab V by Arturia. Many of the presets on that synth have built-in reverb that you cannot change. So when one note plays and the next note is the one you want delayed, the note before it is going to bleed into the delay, which is what you don't want.
How do I keep this from happening?

Are you sure that you can't change the reverb settings? That looks weird, since a synth is made to design "every" element of a sound, but I don't know anything about this Arturia synth so...
Are you sure it's not something to do with the release of your Amp Envelope?

You can change the reverb, there is access to the effects used for every patch in AL4 and 5, and the general method is to remove reverb like this from the instruments and use a global reverb on a return so you have the same "space" throughout.
