Digital Dust Sound
Alright ya'll I need help.
I keep getting a little digital static when I record, it's not a CPU thing, it's not all the time... but definitely enough. It feel seems to mostly happen when I FREEZE then FLATTEN a track, but sometimes it happens when I record as well. I've narrowed it down to happening in Ableton.
My Mac is brand new 2019, I use the Apollo Twin.
Any thoughts?

You might need to narrow it down to a deeper level. It can be many things like a plugin, or maybe some not-so-perfect settings with your sound card.
Which version of Live are you using?

I'm not using any plugins, I'm at 48000 and 256, my CPU is at like 5 percent. I'm using 11, and it never happened before I got 11.

Re: Digital Dust Sound
it'll happen when recording direct with zero plugins.
the crackle WON"t be there, then I freeze, and flatten and it appears.
I'm using the most updated version of Ableton.
it's easy enough to remove with "de-crackle" but I shouldn't have to deal with it all the time.

Re: Digital Dust Sound
I have been having the same issue... little digital pops/crackles in my recordings, or even just playing live with my instruments, monitoring through Live.
Using a WING with wing asio driver, 48000... and even adjusting buffers up to 512 or 1024 or 2048, I'm getting these crackles / digital pops in my recordings... even just recording a single stereo audio track. It's a weird intermittent thing... doesn't always happen, but its regular enough that it has ruined several recent recordings, and I've had to re-track. I don't recall ever hearing it before... not sure if its related to the latest FW for live?... but I did update about a month ago.
I also tried replacing USB cable to WING, using different USB ports, and adding a ferrite to my USB cable, just to rule out any USB issue.
I'm really not sure what I should try next..

What's a WING?
Do the crackles disappear when you're not using it at all?

Re: Digital Dust Sound
WING is the audio interface / main mixing hub of my studio. All my instruments, studio monitors, PA, IEMs are gone if I remove it from equation...
As mentioned, 48000 sample rate, I've tried increasing asio buffer up to 512, 1024 and even 2048.
When just recording a single stereo track it happens intermittently. I've had the Wing for a year or so, but never heard the pops/crackles until recently... which is why I wonder if its something in latest Live version.
Computer is a i9 12900k, 64gb of DDR3200, NVMe/SSDs for all the OS, Ableton, scratch drives. 3080Ti graphics card. I have also tried disabling windows security... but still having the issue.

Could be the latest Live update. Did you updated anything else recently? Could it be a plugin?creativespiral wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 5:48 pmbut never heard the pops/crackles until recently... which is why I wonder if its something in latest Live version.
