Ableton Link
Ableton Link
Anyone else having issues with Ableton Link? No matter what I try I can't get Ableton to see my iPhone apps. Ideally I'd like this to work over a wired connection.
Macbook Pro 2017/Ventura, iPhone 14/ios16 (but I couldn't make it work on Big Sur either).
Cheers

Re: Ableton Link
How have you got it set up? I'm tearing my hair out...
Re: Ableton Link
Are you on the same network? That's about all you need to do once Link is enabled in all your apps/devices.

Also you have to allow the apps to find other devices on the network. It’s often asked when you open the app or activate Link. Can be changed in Settings.
Some apps do Link better than others too. Some don’t update to the latest version.

Re: Ableton Link
I've tried wifi, setting up an ad-hoc network and plugging my phone in to the laptop. I tried syncing Ableton with standalone apps on my macbook too, no joy. It's literally driving me insane, I really need this to work for a specific project. I contacted Ableton 10 days ago, no answer so far. It's the first time I've come across any issue at all, so frustrating...
Re: Ableton Link
I've uninstalled my vpn and got malwarebytez disabled (which as far as I understand shouldn't get in the way anyway).

No, this I did immediately when I couldn't get it to work

Re: Ableton Link
Link works however obviously not im your network.
Maybe the culprit are settings in your router. E.g. mine has a setting that allows or blocks communication between devices in the same wifi or LAN..
... or security settings on your notebook and your phones.

Thanks, I'll look into it. I wish there was a complete guide somewhere on how to do this. Have you ever tried running link over a wired network?

You might want to have a look at Link's Knowledge Base articles

Which apps are you using?
Have you verified in settings for those apps that finding other devices in the network is turned on?

Figure and Reason Compact, they sync perfectly with each other. On my macbook Ableton and Model 15, not syncing at all (with each other or external devices)

Re: Ableton Link
Hi,
I'm an app developer who is currently implementing Ableton Link. I was having the same problem as described here, when targeting higher than iOS 12 Link would not work on the latest iOS (16).
After some research, I discovered I have to request a Multicast Networking Entitlement from Apple - this thread helped: https://github.com/Ableton/LinkKit/issues/56v.
So in case you don't find a solution, contact the developer - they may need to update their app with this.
