Hello!
I have a stereo audio file that I would like to split into 2 mono tracks, its L and R channel.
I have been searching around for a clean solution, but most seem to involve Utility, changing Channel Mode to L or R, and then setting Balance to hard L or R to get the same "effect." However, using Utility's mono Channel Modes outputs a "dual mono" signal, and hard panning combines both channels' signals into one, necessarily producing a different, higher volume signal than the original mono signal.
I am curious to know if it is possible to extract each mono track from the stereo track without going through dual mono manipulation, preserving the original signal's exact properties. A clean sever down the middle!
Thank you kindly.
P.S. Going in, I assumed there would be a 'right click>extract mono channels' sort of deal. So if there is not a clean solution, consider this a feature request!
