why won't my record button work with my mpk49 in ableton

What's up, i'm still fairly new to ableton, i was using reason 4.0 for a long time, my problem is that my mpk 49 doesn't want to record when i hit the record button on my mpk, i checked the preference ports with different configurations in ableton, and it still won't work. it would be very useful if it did because i feel like i could bang out ideas quicker. this is extremely frustrating! anybody with knowledge of this would be greatly appreciated.

You may have to assign it.
Apple M
or view midi (i think)
The screen will turn blue
and you click the record then hit the record on your controller.
Also your controller prob has a Ableton Preset look in the manual and see what number it is and use that.

thanks for the input micheal, i have however tried these two methods correctly and neither seem to work, the midi selection with the blue screen will use any button except the record, play, stop, etc. also my preset is seat for ableton. maaaan, this is frustrating!

you have to change to settings on the mpk 49 so that those buttons are sending midi cc notes, right now they are sending some other type of info i forget what its called.......if u hit one of those buttons and go to edit you will probably be able to figure it out, look in the mpk manual

Midi cc# 119 is used for Record button in ableton.

thanks guys, i looked at my mpk manual and it's extremely brief on settings, i did set my program change on my mpk49 to midi channel-cc, program-119, is this right because i'm unfortunately still having problems, thanks for the help guys!

man, all i'm having really is bad luck on this side, the midi won't sync to record! i've tried using the midi cc at119 and also doing it by clicking on the midi screen, can somebody please help?

Wondering if there might be an update on this subject? I can't get my stop, play or record button to work off the mpk49.
