Crossfade between 4 tracks with x-y pad is it possible?

Post by versus liveact » Fri May 12, 2023 1:58 pm

Hi there!

I just wondering is it possible to Crossfade between 4 tracks with x-y pad in Ableton with stock devices without complicated max for live patch?
The idea is simple, x-y pad 4 corners - 4 individual sound, and the x-y pad crossfade between them.

Thanks for any idea!

Best wishes!

This sounds like a good idea and I'd like to know the result if you find one.

Bear in mind that you will never be able to isolate 3 tracks ever.
i.e. if you are halfway between x0 and x1 and want to dial in only y1, then you can't as the crossfader will be halfway between y0 and y1.

Code: Select all

y0-------y1
I I
I I
x0-------x1
It's an interesting idea but I have an APC40 MKII and have a Traktor style ABCD deck setup and cross fade between AC - BD and use the vertical faders to dial in elements from each deck. I find that to be a clear and easy way to live perform

Yes with simply mapping I have no any luck,
eventually I have found max for live patch called XY Morph 1.0 by ChristianDervishi,it is free from the user library:

https://maxforlive.com/library/device/9111/xy-morph

You can map the 4 faders or any 4 parameters, and You can control with the x-y pad.Working fine, easy and good enough for me.
