.vstpreset not showing up in collection
.vstpreset not showing up in collection
I created a folder in my user library with different types of instruments in it (.adg .adv. .vstpreset). Then I saved this folder to a collection.
However when I create a new (empty) midi track on push and want to load an instrument from this collection, the .vstpresets ar not showing up, only .adg and .adv instruments.
Any ideas how to fix this or what the problem could be?
I'm using the latest version of Ableton (11.2.7) with Push 2 (Firmware 1.0 Build 71) on Mac OS 12.6.2
Thanks for your help!

Re: .vstpreset not showing up in collection
Are the VST3 presets?
If yes, then that's because they're not exposed to Push, see here.
Quickest workaround is to save your plugin's preset as a rack.

Thanks for your answer. Yes, these are VST3 presets.
What I don't understand is, when loading an .adv or .adg instrument preset (impulse or operator for example) first, and then click "browse" and navigate to my collection folder, all .vstpreset files are shown on the push. I can scroll through and load without a problem. Why is that?

Re: .vstpreset not showing up in collection
Easiest way to save VST presets is to select the vst, ctrl+g to group it, then drag the group into the corresponding folder within user library. I go one step further and create Wav samples in the folders with a preview for instruments sharing the same name. That way you have your presets along with audible previews.
Re: .vstpreset not showing up in collection
I have the same problem adding vsts with the Push 2. This is so dumb.
On a new track all .vstpreset files are visible in the collection. If I insert an Instrument and I want to add a effect device via Push 2 after that instrument, all .vstpreset files are not visible anymore. Why?? Why is this not possible?

What? They show up at first, but as soon as you load one of them they all disappear?RogerGdot wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2023 11:05 pmI have the same problem adding vsts with the Push 2. This is so dumb.

Re: .vstpreset not showing up in collection
I have confirmed this with Ableton support earlier that this is indeed a bug.
It's not in front of me at the moment but if I remember correctly then the presets show up on audio tracks and not on MIDI (or vice versa?). So this might also be related to how inserting an Instrument makes them disappear.
Btw it is not VST-specific, I have the same issue with .aupreset. Only the native Ableton plugins (.adv) work flawlessly.
