Push 3 mic input XLR to 1/4 inch jack adaptor
To plug in a condensor microphone with XLR, what type of convertor cable do I need?
I see some cables go from female XLR to a 3-pole 1/4 inch jack, while other adaptor cables that convert to 2-pole 1/4 inch jack.

I am unsure what is the right type of cable. As I understand it, 3 pin XLR are balaced and have ground, positive and negative. Since the marketing says the inputs are balanced, I am confused as to whether they would accept 2 or 3 pole?
I realize that I will either need to use batterries or get an inline 48v Phantom PSU like this:

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Push 3 mic input XLR to 1/4 inch jack adaptor
If you plug a condenser mic into Push's audio interface you won't get anything... Push doesn't provide fantom voltage.
So, either use a dynamic mic, or use a mic preamp between your condenser and Push.

Use this one for e.g a dynamic mic. But if you use a condenser with a preamp, there's many chances that this preamp has a jack output.Cloth Ears wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 7:10 pmhttps://www.thomann.de/gb/hhb_flashmic_ ... el_150.htm <<<3 pole example

Thanks once again jur. Don't know what I would do without you.[jur] wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 11:04 pmUse this one for e.g a dynamic mic. I ordered this:
https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/pr ... tubepre-v2
It has both unbalanced jack output and balanced XLR. I am still unsure whether the Push3 jack sockets accept 3-pole mono balanced (like a stereo jack) or only 2 pole mono unbalanced inputs.

In case you don’t know, this might be a better option. You’d get analog I/O via ADAT and 8 mic preamps for your Push:

I haven’t used either device, so I can’t comment on the preamp quality. But the Behringer pres seem to be ok, at least.

I have cancelled the Presonus Preamp and gone for this instead. Thanks for the heads up. My Condensers are not that good, so an OK preamp will do.grein wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 11:43 amIn case you don’t know, this might be a better option. Good to know jur, I did not see any reference in the Push 3 manual as to the specifics.[jur] wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 11:35 amBothCloth Ears wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 11:20 amI am still unsure whether the Push3 jack sockets accept 3-pole mono balanced (like a stereo jack) or only 2 pole mono unbalanced inputs.

If you go to the Input/Outpus tech specs here, it is written:Cloth Ears wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 3:45 pmGood to know jur, I did not see any reference in the Push 3 manual as to the specifics.

I've been using XLR -> 1/4 for my vocals, as I will hope to do in live shows.
I have set the loudest preamp setting, but - it's still not very loud? I have to use a compressor to make it really audible, and it isn't using much of the dynamic range of the .WAVs for sure.

^ Yes, I might use another preamp and even a condenser mic at home,
but I was really hoping this to be my 1-box show for live travel.
Thoughts? It doesn't seem exactly intended for vocals. (Also, as mentioned elsewhere, we'd like a native Auto-Tune like audio effect.)

For autotune, the little Roland VT-4 is pretty good. It has a convenient knob for setting key, combi XLR/jack and phantom power. Various FX onboard too.
