Bit Depth

Post by bt2714 » Thu Jun 01, 2023 7:50 pm

Hello!

I have many projects that i’m working on using a 24 bit depth and 48 kHz sample rate. I don’t use an interface, I just use a M1 MacBook Pro Max.

I have been thinking about switching to a 32 bit depth. I read in the Live manual that I should be working at a bit depth of 32 bits. I freeze and flatten a lot of audio, so many of my samples are at 32 bits due to lives internal processing.

Will this affect the projects I’m working on?

Appreciate your help!

No, that will be absolutely fine. Live can work with multiple bit depths at the same time.

Live works 32 bit (or even 64 bit) in the background. If you are talking about recording audio, 24 bit is perfectly fine.
