LIVE Audio and Video nightmare
LIVE Audio and Video nightmare
I experience endless issues with addling Videos and/or Audio files to the tracks. Several times I have spent my time trying to add all kind of suggested crap. Then LIVE worked for some time then it stopped. At some point I could insert a video, but it remained in the let top corner covering the menu etc.
I have and my WAV and MP3 files working (I was able to add them to the track)_ not again it is not working. This is a real nightmare to deal with this and despite hundreds of complaints from the users it has not been fixed or improved.
I have spent two days trying to make things work and following all kind of suggestions and still cannot use external files. Neither MP3, WAV, MP4 would work when trying to drag them onto the track. Adding from Live browser doesn't work as well. Ableton says the File is corrupted which is absolute BS, because I can play the file in multiple players, but cannot import it.
I tried all options posted here:

I wonder if anybody has some proven method to make this work ?

Re: LIVE Audio and Video nightmare
I'm sorry, I forgot to mention...
Yes, running Windows10/Live11
PS>
If I remember correctly in Live10 once, I was advised by Ableton Support to delete configuration files etc. It did the job for some time, however I've lost my customization, so I will not do this again. I remember dealing with the Audio/Video issues since version 7. Nothing has changed in that matter, and I really regret paying for the Live update. I am learning Studio One (in the meantime) so I can either use both DAW's, or if there is no real improvement I consider switching to S1 100%.
I just run a simple drug and drop test of the same file into Studio One. It seems like the MP3 needed some conversion because It took around 2 min to appear (the file was 60 min long) but everything went smoothly and automatic. No issues of any kind. I just wonder what is wrong with Ableton to not be able to implement even simple integration of Audio and Video, while other "younger DAW: like S! could do this ?

I assume you read this too: https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/artic ... sing-Video
Note that the mentioned Haali Media Splitter (https://haali.net/mkv/ top right on the page) cannot decode files with dimensions greater than 1080p (1920×1080). If you try, you'll get the message 'Could not decode video file'.

Re: LIVE Audio and Video nightmare
Yes I have seen those links. I installed all recommended programs and drivers and still no improvement. At this moment I neither can load AUDIO or VIDEO. None of it works. Amazingly the same (audio and video files) load without any problems in Studio One.
Re: LIVE Audio and Video nightmare
The only thing I can think of is a too small Cache size, or one that's has not enough free space. Live needs this cache for audio files that are converted in the background.
(Like mp3s that are converted to wav.)
If you keep having problems, contacting Support would be best if you haven't already done so.

Re: LIVE Audio and Video nightmare
I have 1 Tb space available on the drive and Cache is set to 500Bgb
I have sent help request to Ableton but they are not responding
