Push 3 CV output in controler mode
Push 3 CV output in controler mode
Hi All,
I use an Apollo x6 as my interface in Windows 11, but I would like to take advantage of the CV out the push 3 provides for my Gate and V/oct, in controller mode. Does the Push s have to be in Standalone or be set up as an audio interface to in Live to provide this functionality, or is there a way to get this to work when set up as a controller only?

Re: Push 3 CV output in controler mode
It doesn't need to be Standalone, but it does need to be set up as an audio interface and Pedals/CV set up as CV. There are four mono channels accessed via a TRS -> 2xTS cable from both pedal jacks which correspond to outputs 5, 6, 7 and 8 (where 5/6 are on pedal jack 1 and 7/8 on pedal jack 2).
It's mildly annoying because I can't use the CV out (because it's really a DC-coupled audio out) when I'm using my Clarett 8Pre, but at least I can ADAT the OctoPre to the Push if necessary.
EDIT: I haven't contemplated making an aggregate audio interface for this yet; that seems like it might be more trouble than it's worth.

Re: Push 3 CV output in controler mode
Can I use the input for CV in ?
Re: Push 3 CV output in controler mode
could we potentially use the CV outs as another pair of audio outs ?
Re: Push 3 CV output in controler mode
I had some success doing this a couple of days ago as I sent audio and CV from Softube Modular across the DC coupled 5,6,7,8 audio outs. I successfully got a clock-synced LFO talking to the filter cutoff on an MS-20FS, and thought I'd see if I could get an instance of the Softube Mutable Instruments Braids oscillator going into the Ext Signal In on the MS-20. I could! I was surprised and delighted.
Steps were roughly:
- Add a Softube Modular instance to a MIDI track
- Uncheck "Block DC on Aux Out" for all pairs of AUX outs in the Modular instance
- Create four audio tracks which all take their audio from the Modular instance's track
- Set Audio out on each of those 4 tracks to Ext Out, and select 5, 6, 7 and 8 on each track in sequence
- Wire up an oscillator in the Modular instance to Aux 1. This will go to audio out 5
- Take your split audio out 5 (I'm using the Elektron CK-1 kits because they're excellent) and put it somewhere with an audio in. I chose the Ext Signal In of the MS-20FS
- Listen to the audio coming in!
Re: Push 3 CV output in controler mode
Can I still send audio into my RME interface and just send CV out from the Push3, and just change that in settings?
For example - Push audio settings - input - RME, output Push 3.
Then Push set to CV out for both pedal outs. 1/4 TRS to 1/8 inch L/R adapter- 1/8 inch patch cable into gear - Audio out from gear into RME.
I am pretty sure this can be done, but just asking since I don't have a semimodular synth setup currently.
