Any Deadheads using Live?

Post by braj » Tue Oct 11, 2005 8:11 pm

Just curious. I did an electronic version of China Cat Sunflower in Reason and Live, but mostly use Live as a practice tool for guitar.

<violently vomits on keyboard>

I like the dead, on a good day (one where they arent too high to tune before a set)

But ST....good god, Ive never seen more hype for mostly untrained, noodling musicians...

and when you have someone like Karsh Kale opening, you cant afford to be fucking around on stage, when your time comes around. The last show I attended, Kale blew my mind. I mean, he's amazing, and he had a laptop artist, rocking beats, and granulating his live tabla. One of the better live shows Ive seen.

Then ST comes out. Keys player, didnt know what key the band was in, and is sitting there, literally searching for the key, just playing notes...hoping he'll find the root, eventually... And their hand percussionist is a joker too, IMHO...

Their drummer is killin, as is the bassist, but the band really rides those guys.

At least the Dead were generally REALLY good musicians, when they wanted to be.

I tried to do a remix of terrapin station but failed...maybe want to try to sample some of the crazy drum instances they had during some of there shows. I guess to answer you question YES.
