You can already do this on a MIDI track. You can add Arpegiator or Scale, or any other midi devices in front of an instrument.
Re: midi plugins and instruments on the same track
im talking about plugins not live devices. it would be nice if you could drag a vst like reason and select whether you want to use the midi output or the audio output of the plugin. so if i drag a vst arpeggiator or the reason plugin, and put an audio effect in front of it, live should understand that i need to connect the audio input to the effect next to it.
if i put reason plugin first thrn i drag any instrument after it, live should connect the midi output of reason plugin to the instrument next to it.
or it could have an Audio/Midi toggle switch. so you yourself can tell live if you want to use the plugins audio out or midi out. if you select midi out, you can only drag instruments after the plugin.
if you select audio out, you can only add audio effects

Is this still a limitation? I'm new to Ableton, but It seems like to use a VST arpeggiator (like Reason), you still have to put it on a separate midi track and create a track group. Would be really nice to keep everything contained in one midi track.
