I am a long time Live user, and have been evangelical about it over the years, but yeah I've been tinkering with the competition. Fanboys won't want to hear it, but so far off the top of my head -
Multiple audio files inside clips.
This is more powerful and intuitive for creating sequences using audio. Simple example: I can lay out four snares for a 2 bar clip. Extrapolate this to using many different samples and sequences and it's on a different level.
Hardware insert with ping/compensation.
Come on, this is a basic necessity.
All the mod stuff.
Just a whole other level.
The browser (multiple).
Again, on a whole other level of usefulness, features and ease of use.
The keyboard with per note pitch manipulation.
The Grid.
I haven't even delved into it but it's there.
Plug in sandboxing.
All in all, I will likely begin to use it full time. I cannot say no to using these features. I hope to see Ableton come out of what i perceive to be a long period of stagnation , incorporating features like these.
That's all so far!
