This max device DRD Send is not working.
The receive device (next to it) is.

any ideas?

I already tried a re-install of live.

Re-installing Live when facing such issue is quite a bold strategy…
I’d 1st contact the developer of this device, which is not an Ableton one.

Yeah, unfortunately auto update didn't work.

Yeah, free device off gumroad. There should be a send/return device built in by now.

You could try those ones.
While there's no "built in" ones, Cycling 74 also made an "Audio Route" pack, so it's kind of Ableton providing this stuff.
And if you want to go with native Live devices, just use the listen mode from the sidechain of Compressor/glue/gate
