Exporting video with transparency?

Post by FlorentGhys » Tue Jun 02, 2020 4:41 pm

Hello, I'm working with video material that has transparency (ProRes 4444 and Hap Alpha).
Ableton's Video Encoder options on Mac are all H264 codec with a choice of different containers (mp4, m4v, and mov).
Since the codec H264 does not preserve transparency, how can I export video from Ableton while preserving transparency?

A few versions ago, Ableton's video export options allowed me to choose ProRes and other codecs, but not anymore.
Do anybody knows when this change happened?
I'm using macOS 10.14 and Ableton 10.1.14, do PC users have more codec options for video exports?

Preserving transparency is vital for the project I'm working on, and if I can't export a video with a codec that preserves transparency, I basically cannot use Ableton Live.
thanks for any ideas to make this work
Florent

Did you ever find a solution? Same problem here.

Just export the audio only and add it to the video using something like Shutter Encoder or Apple Compressor.
