Simple audio edits within clip

It is somehow no fun to copy a clip to the arrangement to slice it up and do some manual mash, double some slice and bounce it back to audio and into the session in new form. I feel this process does not belong in the arrangement inherently. some basic actions could be done in session just as they are with midi. Changes would be undoable at large until consolidated.
