THIS is how to setup Behringer FCB1010/Ableton/Looper
Re: THIS is how to setup Behringer FCB1010/Ableton/Looper
I can't get the FCB 1010 Expression Pedals to work. (Although on/off functions work great using note values - thanks for that tip!) Anyone have a solution for using the expression pedals for slider controls?

When I assign a preset to a note then map it to turn on an audio effect, it immediately turns itself off. Any ideas why?

Thanks to everyone for the help and info.
If anyone arrives here post 31-12-2020 and is looking for a working version that makes the FCB1010 Ableton 10.1.30 compatible with a few clicks, check out

Regarding freeing up hands, the clip slot looper is also helpful: https://performancelooper.com/product/a ... eton-live/Angstrom wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2017 3:44 pmIf anyone else is still using one of these and has a little knowledge of programming Python I advise making your own ableton controller script for it.
My own BCF1010 script is made for acting on the current clip slot, because if I want to record a clip my hands are busy so it helps to punch in with my feet, also when I want to record automation that takes up both hands so again ... feet!
My layout has the bottom left pedal as "play current clip" then Session Overdub, Undo, Redo, Delete.
Then the top row is "set to a base 2 loop length" (2,4,8,16), then "double loop", quantise, do swing (on selected clip), then the last pedal I leave un assigned.
It's much more useful this way. Worth trying out.

Re: THIS is how to setup Behringer FCB1010/Ableton/Looper
Why is this FCB1010 so freaking difficult to get Ableton to see it? I've spent hours trying to have the FCB1010 show up in the control surfaces to no avail.
I have factory defaulted the FCB1010
I have installed the FCB1010 Manager and sent the preset
I have copied the FCB1010 script folder into the ableton midi scripts folder
I have tried running Ableton as administrator
I have tried removing the Midi In cable
Do i need to put the FCB1010 into a certain mode for it to at least see it as a control surface? I am really perplexed as to how this is so complicated.
ANY advice would be greatly appreciated.

OK, I am at least now able to see the FCB1010 listed under control surfaces after finding another script and adding that to the resources/midi scripts folder.
But, that's all I have. There's still no communication between the FCB and Ableton. Is there any way to test that the midi commands are being sent to the computer? Any further troubleshooting steps?

Not sure what you're trying to do, but one important detail I discovered about the FCB1010, is that VST3 does not support program change MIDI signals. So if you're if you're interfacing with a VST and need to send program changes, make sure you're using VST 2.

IF you have M4L and want to use your FCB 1010 out of the box with Ableton Live I would say using the FCB 1010 CONTROL Max for Live device is probably to quickest way to set things up. Full info here: https://blog.abletondrummer.com/fcb-101 ... eton-live/
and here is a full video run-through which explains how it works and how to set it up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFNR5POFCFM

Here is the Max for Live device which makes using the Behringer FCB 1010 with Ableton Live very, very easy to set up as it takes the MIDI messages from the factory presets from the FB1010.
