I followed the documentation for midi out and external device to be able to send midi to other hardware without having them connected to USB but it's not working, my push3 is not standalone, any documentation or pointers would be helpful.
this video shows the steps but they connect usb and midi out, why do i need to connect USB, can't I just use midi out?

update1: i was reading more about the connectors and i'm using 1/8" TRS Type B, I will get Type A and try.
update2: It's working now with Type A
