What is replacing -ShowDeviceSlots in Live 12 ?

Post by lapieuvre » Mon Dec 11, 2023 2:33 pm

Hi

I was wondering what replaces the -ShowDeviceSlots (the command that you put in the Options.txt file, in Live preferences) in Live 12 ? Since it doesn't work anymore, I would like to know how to keep an overview of the plugins I have in a project?

Thank you.

Nothing, that’s an unofficial feature and as of now there is no other way to incorporate that function.

It was a really cool feature, I'm sad to see this go. I submitted a feature request.

well, that's funny. The "what's new" video clearly states "see what you need".
ctrl + left/right = select transient

ctrl + shift + left/right = select between transients

ctrl + space = play selection

Actually, I got my reply in the Beta forum

It is still there, under View->Mixer Controls->Tracks options

So all good, we didn't lose a feature

Thank God (or more appropriately the devs)....even though it does work a bit quirky, it is still THE best feature to enable IMO.

Would just wish one day, while not having big hopes to get more functionality as long as it doesnt become official activated default, at least the two small quirks get an "unofficial fix" alongside any minor or major update.., that is
1) having the name shown for new or moved plugins (it is currently empty, only upon reloading the project it is fine), and
2) to show the actual name when renaming.
Since both are about showing corrent name, might or might not be too hard, or at least be potentially easier than fixing two completely unrelated issues. Never stop dreaming :)

I just tested this but with -ShowDeviceSlots in my Options.txt file, Tracks Options only shows "Track Delay" and "Keep Latency" under the mixer faders.

It's working fine for me here. The menu option to turn it on/off is View | Mixer Controls | Device Slots.

Ah, after a second restart the option has appeared. Not sure why it didn't register it on the first restart 😁

Phew!
