Getting video to work in Ableton Live reminds me of trying to get PC games to work back in the 1990s. There really should be no need to manually install 3rd party tools, codec packs etc just to get Live to play video.

FYI, L12 fixes Live’s video issues on Windows.

I just had a look at the live 12 beta release notes and was searching the site for everything related to "video":

Have a look yourself but one of the examples is:
"On Windows, video playback no longer requires third-party decoders for common video codecs. Live now supports the same video files as Windows Media Player."

After all this time, finally! I haven't tried the beta yet, but if it works as advertised it would be excellent news!
