Mac overheating while running Live 11

Post by Laura R » Mon Jan 29, 2024 10:30 pm

I just started recording audio with Live 11, and for some reason my 2019 MacBook Pro is overheating and the fan is coming on. I haven't had this problem with Live until now, but it's my first time using a Roland Juno with a stereo audio input in Live 11. My rig is as follows:
- 2019 MacBook Pro w/ 26 GHz 6 core Intel Processor + Sonoma 14.3
- Latest version of Live 11
- Apollo Twin X Duo
- Ultragain Digital ADAT (running the Juno through this into the UA Apollo interface)
- All drivers, etc. have been updated.
The CPU usage in Live 11 at the moment is only 3% or so - I only have one track in the current session so far. Any suggestions about how to tweak settings or anything else to fix the overheating issue? Had this problem with ProTools until their latest update happened before I switched to Ableton. Maybe Live 12 will fix the issue, or if all else fails a new Mac I guess? Definitely need to avoid the hot Mac fan noise at all costs. Thanks for reading.
