Push 3 Standalone + MIDI Monitor

Post by codenuts » Mon Sep 25, 2023 5:40 pm

Has anyone ever tried the MIDI monitor on Push Standalone?

I get the message that the device contains missing or incompatible Max objects, even though according to the page "Compatibility with Max for Live Devices" (https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/artic ... ve-Devices) the device should work at least to a limited extent:

Code: Select all

Built-in Devices	MIDI Monitor	Limited Control
However, I am already on the latest beta 11.3.20b1.
Could someone try this with the non-beta version 1.1.2?

Does anyone know of another M4L device that displays the names of chords played?

No idea what's happening, I'll past it on though.

The device isn't meant to display anything on Push.
That could probably be helpful for Standalone use, but I highly doubt this will happen anytime soon due to how Push displays stuff an how the device is built.

Thanks for clarifying this, @jur

@jur Thanks for the answer. If that's the case, then that's just how it is at the moment.

If I understand correctly, M4L Devides can currently “only” display parameter values and no graphical elements or text? Is this correct?

In fact, MIDI Monitor on Push 3 Standalone is actually completely pointless. In my opinion, this should honestly be stated on the compatibility page (https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/artic ... patibility). It just says something about “Limited Control”...

PS: Push 3 is a really great device and I have a lot of fun with it. :-)

I was thinking of ‘ab’-using the live.banks objects to show text/numbers via the display parameters on the push 3,
but maybe this is not a possible way, I am pretty new to all this and the documentation is a bit sparse about this topics ;)
