I have recordings I made years ago on a TEAC Tascam Series 144 4-Track Cassette Recorder. This is a combination cassette deck and mixing board that allows 4-track recording at 3.75 ips.
I would like to export all these recordings to Ableton but need some help in synchronizing the tracks.
The deck has an RCA stereo out so I can isolate and export 2 tracks at a time by using the deck to pan one track to the extreme left and one to the right. I repeat with the next two tracks so I end up with the 4 tracks in Ableton.
As a result, while the individual tracks within a pair are in sync, the pairs are not as their starting points are slightly off. If I can sync the starting points, the rest of tracks will be in sync.
I have a number of tapes to export so looking for the best method edit the tracks to the same starting point.
Below is a shot of the tracks where 1&2 and 3&4 are the separate pairs.
Using track 2 as reference, tracks 3&4 need the same starting point.
Note these are vocal tracks.
