Has anyone found any sort of device at all that can function as a hub with the computer upstream that can power the push 3 downstream with the 45 or 60w it needs for full brightness without the DC adapter? Plugging a thunderbolt cable to the thunderbolt port works ok in dim mode. Just hoping to be able to have it in full brightness mode.

Docking stations pushing 60-100w upstream (for laptops etc) are common. But I haven't found anything that can push more than 20w downstream to power devices besides very bespoke $300 specialized devices

If you are looking for a high-powered hub, to power the controller push, then you might as well plug the regular power supply adapter into the push's DC socket, and be done. Otherwise, this is about your laptop's battery and its ability to supply the controller push when its plugged into that. Don't even try to do this with the standalone Push.

I use this little monster to power my laptop:
https://slimq.life/products/330w-laptop-charger

It is able to power the laptop and a couple of USB-C PD devices at the same time, as long as I'm not trying to pull down 300w to the laptop when doing something intense while also trying to pull down 100w * 2 through the PD ports. It's 330w rated, but it can actually handle spikes of 400w or so. I bought two because it's so much smaller and more modular than the factory power brick.

That SlimQ charger will power my laptop and Push 3 SA easily. You can also just use the charger without the laptop connector, in which case you can attach a second set of PD ports instead of the laptop connector if you want to power up to 4 high-draw PD devices. It's a great bit of kit because you can use it to charge pretty much anything that takes PD or a barrel plug or any laptop charger shape, using the official adapters.

I use these two power banks:

https://a.co/d/0oqyrxL

The Anker is higher quality and a more reputable brand name, but both power banks have performed excellently to date. I keep the Anker in my backpack with my laptop, and I keep the Imuto in my Push 3 case. I've never actually drained these banks using the Push 3 SA, because I usually start with a fully charged Push and battery pack, and I've not spent more than maybe 3-4 hours in one session with the Push 3 SA. These power banks recharge the Push 3 SA faster than the battery inside the Push 3 SA can drain while being used, which is excellent for extended sessions. These battery packs are just under the limit for airline travel, and you can easily get a full charge or two out of them. They both recharge at full 100w speed, so you can actually recharge the power banks faster than the Push can drain them!

The Push 3 SA charges over USB-C connection from pretty much anything when it's off, albeit somewhat slowly, more similar to a gaming laptop than a phone. I guesstimate that it takes about an hour or so for a full charge over USB-C PD.

While you can use a USB-C PD cable to recharge over the USB-C port on the Push 3 SA, I usually use a USB-C to barrel plug converter cable that provides 20v * 3A PD to the Push's barrel plug connection, because it seems to charge up a bit more quickly versus the USB-C connection. Here's what I use:

Anything with a 5.5mmx2.5mm barrel plug with the correct polarity should work. SlimQ sell a tiny adapter you can add on to any USB-C cable with the requisite PD rating.

I strictly use Thunderbolt3/4 cables with the highest PD rating available for everything, because I don't want to bother trying to figure out if a cable is USB2/3/4 or TB3/4 or PD rated for 10/15/18/45/60/100/140/240w. Just buy a TB4 cable rated for PD up to 240w, or at least a TB3 cable rated for PD up to 100w, and save yourself a lot of trouble. These cables will be backwards compatible with everything, and they will work with everything. Costs a bit more up front, but you'll end up carrying fewer cables because the cables you have are always able to handle anything; also, USB3/4 cables that are high quality and can do 100/140/240w PD are pretty close in price to a TB3 cable with the same PD rating, so you're paying about the same price for a more versatile cable. I usually carry a very short TB3/4 cable for recharging and a longer TB3/4 cable for situations where my laptop and external devices need to be several feet apart (e.g., in a live performance setup). I leave all my other USB-C cables at home and use them for charging phones and other stuff that doesn't need serious PD power and/or data transfer capabilities.

I use this case:

It's a Pelican knockoff, and I wouldn't trust it to be submerged in water or taken on a kayak trip, but it's very solid and has plenty of room for the Push + CV/MIDI adapters + audio, data, and charging cables + Anker 100w GaN charger + Imuto power bank + Etymotic ER4PT IEMs... and you could probably add more, honestly. It's my all-in-one laptop-free Push session in a carrying case. Push 1/2 fit perfectly in a Pelican 1495 laptop case, but Push 3 is just big enough that there's basically zero room for foam on the sides at all, so I had to use this lower quality case from a no-name knockoff brand.
