Unable to control external drum machine with drum rack when in standalone mode

Post by KidAircrash » Tue Apr 02, 2024 7:22 am

Hi, everyone, I've been stuck on this issue for weeks now and haven't had any luck. Hopefully someone has experience with this, and I am just doing something wrong.

I've been trying to control my external MXR 185 drum machine that has a midi retrofit kit using a drum rack on the Push while in standalone mode.

I have no issues controlling the machine in standalone mode with the regular note layout, but I'd like to have a drum rack layout so that I can use a more convenient layout for finger drumming.

I followed most of the steps in this guide to set up my rack https://ask.video/article/ableton-live/ ... l-hardware and it works great in controller mode. However, I've transferred the preset to my standalone user library and when I load it none of the drums trigger correctly. It seems like it has issues with the midi source been labeled differently (or something like that) and that causes it to lose the Receive/Play note mapping info (which is something I don't think you can set on the push in standalone mode).

Has anyone had any luck controlling an external drum machine with a drum rack layout in standalone mode?

I believe my software is all up to date:
Live 12 Version: 12.0.1
Push Firmware Version: 1.4.0

Here is a screenshot of what my preset looks like on the PC:

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
