Bar number query

Post by DrAndy » Tue Apr 02, 2024 7:11 am

I've recently started using Live 12 and when editing drums in Arrangement view I noticed the bar number in midi clips didn't following the numbering of the overall arrangement, it ran from the beginning of the clip. When I go to another midi clip in the arrangement though the numbering follows that of the arrangement (which I prefer when in arrangement view) why is this? Is there an option somewhere to choose?

why is this?
If you edit the length of a clip in arrangement window and then open it in clip edit, it will show the original clip length and the bar numbers will match the original length of clip. This can cause confusion if you don't know it does this. If you want it to match the arrangement then you can select 'consolidate clip' in arrangement and it will remove all midi data outside the visible clip boundaries. Opening it up now in clip edit will match what is in the arrangement window.

While this seems somewhat odd behaviour it can be extremely powerful once you get used to it.
