Record audio clip from fcb1010 footswitch.

I have Ableton Live Lite on a PC. The fcb1010 seems to work for most functions but launching the record scene/clip I am getting a white arrow instead of red and it freezes up. I have to shut down the controller and delete the clip or I am getting some kind of feedback? I don't know much about midi functionality. I have been looking online for hours and have not seen this happen in ableton to anyone else. I have an Arturia controller that works perfectly but I need to record clips on the fly with a guitar and would like to be hands free. I have seen folks get this function on a mac, I think, I don't know what to believe anymore. Nektar footswitch? I don't understand it. It's easier to use a computer keyboard than simply control that one function via foot.
