Multiple Ableton Launch "Configurations" or "Settings"?
Is there a way to have more than one set of "parameters" or "settings" per machine when launching Ableton Live? I'm thinking of multiple "Configurations" that have different options, possibly triggered by a command line option on startup.
This is a basic feature of other live DAWs (I'm coming from Cantabile). In particular, switching between laptop-based projects (where I use remote scripts), and ones destined for Push 3 Standalone (where I must MIDI-map my controllers) is a big hassle - I currently have two separate machines at home with different Ableton configurations (desktop and laptop), but this is gonna get old fast.
How do others handle this? Any suggestions welcome!

You can create different templates for how you want your projects laid out, but you can’t save different audio and midi IO settings for instance.

Thanks Tarekith ...
The usual way this works is a command line switch to tell the DAW where to look for it's config files, rather than the default "hardwired" location. Then it is a simple matter to create Windows shortcuts with different command line options for your different configurations. That's the way Cantabile works, for example.
Might there be such a command line option for Ableton Live?

I've never heard of anything like that, though it's not something I've looked that deeply into either I'm afraid.

You could install multiple versions of Live, and set each one to your liking.

> multiple versions of Live,
How interesting. Thanks for that!
So, looking at ...
https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/artic ... ns-of-Live
... it seems straightforward (although I may regret saying that ...)
However, Preferences for Live seem to live on Windows in: \Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 12.0.2\Preferences\ for my current version ... and I expect that is ?fixed? ... unless there is a way to change that??

Oh yeah, in that case you could install e.g L12.0.1, so that preferences could be independant.
