Classic & 1-Shot mode in Drum Rack no difference

Post by randomname » Thu Jan 06, 2022 6:50 pm

I’m on 11.0.12 and when I put samples into Drum Rack, the Classic mode plays the entire sample regardless of note length. I show two examples on the video. Am I missing something? Didn’t have this issue on Ableton 10.

I didn't watch your video, but the answer is most certainly because of your ADSR's settings.

Hello Jur,

What do I have to do/set with the ADSR? In previous Ableton versions all I had to do was drop a sample into Drum Rack and just switch between 1-shot or Classic. The only difference now on 11 is that when I drop a sample, the filter/LFO/pitch envelope ticks are off by default under controls. But when I switch them on and set them to look like the default on AB10, it still doesn’t work. Classic mode works fine as a single sample on a track. The issue is when it’s in Drum Rack.

What happens if you drop your sample into a single instance of Simpler, and then drag this Simpler into a Drum Rack?
I suspect you're default Drum Rack is using different Simpler settings VS your default Simpler.

Regarding the ADSR, try reducing the Release.

ADSR release adjustment doesn’t help.

Dropping the sample into a Simpler and then dragging that Simpler to the Drum Rack actually works. There’s got to be a better way though.

There’s a difference between the 2 Simplers. The 1st one directly dropped into the Drum Rack doesn’t show the amplitude envelope compared to the dragged into the Rack one. In fact, the amplitude envelope isn’t adjustable at all on the 1st one. Could that be the reason?

The first one is in 1-shot mode while the other one is in Classic mode.
It's probably because your Simpler's default state is different than your Drum Rack's one.

The forums themselves have never really interested me, but i just decided to stop in and say that this is probably the worst reply to someone asking for help that I have ever seen. didn't look at all of the information given, didn't explain to the user what you were talking about so they now have to look it up, didn't explain what setting to change, and eventually gave up for nearly a month before replying again. you probably should have just ignored the post altogether if you weren't even going to attempt to solve the issue on the first go.

Weird thing to get wobbly-lipped about, and conveniently ignoring [jur]'s follow up posts, the last of which was not replied to by OP.
The forums themselves have never really interested me
Good to hear.

Thanks for stopping by then, that was really worth it.
