Encoder knob works of teenage engineering OP-1.

Post by NK7710 » Mon Sep 02, 2024 7:47 am

Hi everyone.

I'm testing using the teenage engineering OP-1 as a MIDI controller for Ableton Live 11 Suite, I've successfully installed the script file I got from GitHub, but I'm looking for a way to adjust how well the colour encoder works.

The knob on the OP-1 encoder is a dial type, so it works slowly in relation to the number of times you turn it. For example, MIDI mapping to the ‘XY Pad’ only moves the encoder about 0.13 per rotation. It takes about 8 or 9 rotations to go from minimum to maximum value.

I'm looking for a way to adjust the effect so that it works like other MIDI controller, one turn around and it will be fully open. Is there somewhere to rewrite the program or is there a way to set it up? If you know of one, please let me know.

Thank you!

Depending on the relative type and the behavior of the controller, I think some methods will make it change at larger amounts if you turn the encoder fast and smaller amounts if you turn the encoder more slowly.

I don’t entirely have an in depth knowledge on this though. Just throwing that out there.

Thank you for suggestion!

It's sure but there are dyal (ticking) type. So one click makes just 1 scale advance whatever speed.

I want to set it up so that one click advances around 8 or 9 scale, not 1.

Thank you again.
