Push 3 Standalone - pads less responsive
Push 3 Standalone - pads less responsive
Running Push 3 in standalone mode.
Current issue is the pads go through a thing every few weeks where they're suddenly about 60% non-responsive. Meaning: when this happens, tapping pads with the same speed and velocity results in a trigger 40% of the time unless I hit the pads REALLY hard, and it's questionable whether that has an effect. I worry I may do damage to the pads if I keep this up. I say every few weeks, but in reality I've only had it a couple months and this is the second time it's happened. Last time I adjusted the envelopes on external hardware the Push is driving which seemed to correct the issue, or maybe it didn't and this is a random thing because this time, adjusting the envelopes had zero effect.
suggestions plz

Re: Push 3 Standalone - pads less responsive
Is the issue appearing after playing for quite some time (maybe 30+ mn, but I mean really playing the pads themselves, not using Push for various other things), or right from the boot up?

I didn't stop to think that it may be overheating. In both instances it's been after having the device on for about five hours. Even then, only about 20% of that time was spent actually playing, with the rest of the time spent arranging/tweaking/mixing/etc.
Both times it's happened I rebooted a few times then shut it off for the night when there was no improvement in pad performance.
That's where I am now. It willl have to wait until after work tomorrow before I can get back to it.

Interesting...
I asked this because I sometimes experience non(bad)-responsive Pressure. I'm pretty sure it happens after playing with the pads' pressure for "too much" time, and it seems like the pressure detection then needs some time to "reset".

Re: Push 3 Standalone - pads less responsive
Back in the 80s I was working as a 'tire guy' and tow driver for an auto repair service. The old head mechanic would regularly sling 'under the radar insults' at some of the more annoying customers who were 'hypochondriac' about their cars, with the most common being "sounds like a 'nut behind the wheel' problem..."
Well today, "I" am that nut.
Turned everything on this evening after swapping out a couple modules in my rack and was still having the same issue, with the pads sometimes dropping out for a bar or two. Then I noticed a little button flashing at me. Somehow when I wasn't paying attention, I accidentally toggled on the "Repeat" button.
Once I hit the button (e.g. de-toggled "Repeat"), everything worked as expected.
Problem solved, at least for now.

I believe it!
I thought I'd found my sweet spot on the expression curve. I went the other way: from working exclusively standalone to practicing a course on Push 3 in controller mode. And my playing now causes the occasional note to jump out over the rest, hitting 127 velocity.
