Akai APC64 midi mapping

Post by tomchadd » Wed Oct 30, 2024 3:14 pm

I'm new here, hi everybody 👋

I recently got an apc64 which I'm probably going to return as it doesn't quite do what I need, but just thought I'd ask here first in case anyone has a solution that I hadn't thought of!

Basically I want to use it in "session view" mode but also have the touch strips midi mapped to control effects on my master track (EQ, etc.) so it's at my fingertips without having to switch between "session view" and "custom" modes. Is there any way to do this?

It's be great if I could midi map them when the touch strips are set to "off" (or when set to volume, device, etc. if the midi map could override this) but it seems impossible.

I can of course midi map them in "custom" mode, and I was then hoping that I could set up the custom mode so that the pads are used to launch clips, the same as session view, but that also seems impossible?

Was previously using an APC40 which I loved and might go back to even though a couple of its faders have broken. I knew the APC64 would be less tactile but I actually like its touch strips. It's just frustrating if there's no way to use them the way I want at the same time as launching clips.

Dreaming of an APC40 MK3 🥺
