Live 12 - Serious Issues - CPU Overload
Re: Live 12 - Serious Issues - CPU Overload
@Repentant
First I'd make sure that the plugins your using are up-to-date.
I'm not used to windows so I can't provide more suggestions than what's already in this thread, but you might want to contact Support and provide them a Status Report.

Re: Live 12 - Serious Issues - CPU Overload
Annoying question, I know, but as it was not asked before and no info about that in the thread here: have you (double) checked the buffer size and used driver for your audio interface? 128 roughly is the acceptable border for many interfaces (before getting too high CPU usage and too many drop outs). For some interfaces (especially onboard) it is higher. For others like the Fireface ones one can go a bit lower (if needed).
And if no ASIO or similar low latency driver is being used (e.g. just MME/DirectX) setting potentially needs to be much higher.

Re: Live 12 - Serious Issues - CPU Overload
I've just upgraded to Live 12 and it won't play projects that played fine in Live 11, on the same machine. I have never had CPU issues before now, not once. Now I can't play any of my past projects without stuttering, glitching and the CPU running crazily high. At this rate I'm going to have to downgrade to 11 just to be able to keep using Ableton.

What Buffer Size are you using? Try 256 or lowerWriteNext wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 11:30 amI've just upgraded to Live 12 and it won't play projects that played fine in Live 11, on the same machine. Re: Live 12 - Serious Issues - CPU Overload
Old post I know but me too! I re installed everything and turned off wi if virus protection just to see. I have just 2 audio tracks and no effects and this is happening. 64 ram and external HD with all libraries there. Even with buffer at 500 or so. Anyway ready to try anything. I did try process explorer to isolate the errors but that is a cumbersome programme to work with…..
Re: Live 12 - Serious Issues - CPU Overload
I don't think it's an issue with the buffer size.
I guess most users know how to set their buffer, and especially when theu upgraded from Live 11 to Live 12 (it seems to be the case of most users here) they know how a session did behave in Live 11 and how it compares in Live 12.
It may be a bug (I personnaly don't have any issue in Live 12 on a M1 pro), but if it's not a bug linked to some specific stuff nobody found yet, the most probable culprit would be the Ableton Live indexer.
When going from Live 11 to Live 12, Live is re-indexing everything. And also re-creating all the .asd files for each .wav file in the set.
Depending on the amount of files used (it can be any file inactive in the session but indexed in the Live browser, and any audio file used in the session), it can take a while and it uses a lot of processing.
I would check that first, and let some time to Live in order to index the whole hard drive and re-create the .asd analysis files for each session.

You can the indexer spinning in “Places” but in my case is doesn’t take long at all. My other and most pressing issue is Live freezing on start up. I have reset live 3 or 4 times and re installed Windows…. Now I just put my pc to sleep with Live running!
