Locking clips to SMPTE time

Post by diegux » Thu Jun 04, 2020 1:41 am

Can we please get the ability to lock clips to SMPTE in arrangement view? It is basic bread and butter for scoring to video. There is no way to do any professional scoring without it. Ableton , just by including the ability to change the tempo but lock the clip to an absolute timecode, could become a great tool for film and game composers.
It's 2020. It's a very expensive DAW. It is a joy to use, the one that makes me more creative. Just please make the few really needed adjustments people have been asking for years.

Thanks

Wow this would be incredibly powerful.

This is the one reason I have to go back to logic for film and tv projects, when I would much rather stay in the flow in the creative wonderland of Ableton Live.

Wanting to bump this as I'm currently looking at having to buy a Logic license. I'd really enjoy having all of the scoring functionality such as this and native Atmos support.

ok sot this isnt SMPTE , but you can lock markers to to time in ableton, though amazingly its not really in manuals. i do a lot of long form scoring and thi si a massive game changer, though your video in *then un timeline go to options/time ruler format, and thne whatever the fps is, markers stay locked regardless of tempo. oh i could used knowing about this three months ago when i spent hours if not days doing musiclal chairs tithe markers. this is so so. easy
