Auto Shift not working at all, greyed out keyboard.
Auto Shift not working at all, greyed out keyboard.
Hi, everyone. Does anyone knows why Auto Shift isn’t working and why the keyboard in the device is greyed out and I’m unable to change the custom scale? It only happens with this session of many where I’m using the device. I tried creating a new track and throwing the device on it expecting to be working but still got the same problems, no note shifting and greyed out keyboard. All the settings in the other sessions and on this one are the same so it should work.

For me, the keyboard interface is gray when 'Quantizer' is off, but it's still interactive - I can still modify the custom scale. Are you saying it's both grayed out and non-interactive?
If you could link to an example screenshot, that might help in diagnosing the issue.

Thanx for replying. Here it is an image of the Auto Shift problems https://ibb.co/wgYyQKC
As you can see I took 2 different screenshots of the device, one with a custom scale settings which I can't edit and one with an E Major scale, which is not the scale the track is. The device is affecting pitch as it where in some kind of a chromatic setting and for both scales settings it sounds exactly the same. In the image you can notice that the quantization is on and the keyboard is greyed out.

I can't think of an immediate explanation for that (with respect to the keyboard color, I assume you're not using a custom theme or anything of that sort). Even when I have 'Quantizer' off, the keyboard gray is different from what you have, which is lighter.

Re: Auto Shift not working at all, greyed out keyboard.
Finally solve it! The session had a tunning on some devices, I erased the tunning from the session and got Auto Shit working as it should. It seems that when a Tunning is active it overrides the scale on all the session devices including Auto Shit. I guess, not knowing with much depth about it, taht this is a bug because this device is an audio effect and not a MIDI instrument even thou you can set a MIDI input for pitch shitting which it was not active in this case.
Re: Auto Shift not working at all, greyed out keyboard.
It's a not a bug.
Auto Shift is scale-aware and thus follows the scale of any active Tuning.

There should be an option to choose whether the user is able to choose from different scales and tunings as pleased. I mean if one is really into creating bold stuff, I get the point of making it easy for users who don't know much about music scales and harmonies.
Re: Auto Shift not working at all, greyed out keyboard.
Auto Shift is specifically for keeping "tuning" regular to 12 tone equidistant scales, for the most part. It's pitch correction, in a nice format. Also, since it is brand new, I cut them some slack!
If you look in the Keys and Scales available at the top control of the Live interface, as well as in Auto Shift, you will see many more than Major and Minor. Those are "some" of the bold directions possible.
Otherwise, the idea of pitch correcting a whole bunch of audio input to "alternate" tuning is a very interesting idea, but not quite there. Perhaps later, the tuning system and Auto Shift functionality will have more overlap. Perhaps this would be a good thing to address with a powerful M4L device (beyond my current knowledge).
There would need to be UI overhaul. Auto Shift has 12 notes for a common Western classical pitch system. Some of the Tuning Systems have 30+ individual notes between octaves!!!
