Peace!
Max 9 dropped recently and I was curious if anyone knows if / when Ableton will update the suite-bundled Max version from Max 8 to Max 9? I ask for a few reasons. 1) I've seen M4L devices coming out explaining that they need Max 9 in order to run. I downloaded one called Web4Live and they explained on the gumroad page that you gotta download Max 9 and add it to the Ableton / App-Resources / Max folder. 2) I'm also just generally curious as to if or when Ableton will do this as I'm planning to learn Max for building M4L devices myself and possibly standalone Max patches. Still have only a very basic understanding of all of it but it looks like Max 9 has insane improvements over v8.

That's definitely not the method I gave, you mixed it up with someone else's explanation (which, for best practice I would ignore tbh).
The way to go is to download Max9, place it in your Applications folder as usual.
Then in Live you go to preferences > files & folders, and here there's an option to choose between the builtin Max and an external version.
You select "external" (or whatever it is called) and Live will open a popup window that will let you navigate the Finder/Explorer and select the Max9 application. Once chosen, you need to restart Live for it to switch to Max9.
Ableton didn't communicate anything about builtin Max9, so it'll happen when it'll happen.

Legend! Thanks for clearing that up. Perhaps I did get that info somewhere else, error on my part. I appreciate you taking the time out so quickly too. Best.
