Copy/Paste Between 2 Instances of Live
Tracks, in arrangement AND session, should be part of what the Live browser should show when expanding a saved set. You choose what to import.

Yea, and not only tracks but clips within tracks and plugins within the tracks.
All in an expandable hierarchy, as folders.
Still with me?

OK, but there has to be a limit. Otherwise, it'll look all cluttered! The tracks that would show would still contain the clips & effects...but not have to show them in the browser.

Yes, I guess that when you don't expand a track further, importing it will include all clips and plugins and settings on that level.

Copying clips from other Live projects into current project
From the file browser, like a directory, when you click on a Live project, it's clips appear as a virtual "subdirectory". Then, drag clip into window. It should copy as much clip info as possible (clip envelopes, etc).
Pretty simple, no changes to the user interface.

Also...
Using the file browser to "browse into" Live projects would stop with clips. I suppose track effects chains could appear as "virtual clips", which could be dragged onto the "Track" column header, or in the effects window, to copy the effects and their settings into the current project.
So basically Ableton could make any attribute of a Live project appear as some "virtual" clip/file element, when viewed from its project, via file browser.

Yes, I think that is pretty much was I have tried to promote.

exactly, so this would take care of importing sets of tracks / scenes and individual tracks / scenesnolus wrote:How about "live set clips", just like normal clips, but each one contains a complete live set? You could nest them to any depth, or flatten them (ie. unpack them as new tracks).
it would save everything you highlighted in session or arrangement and allow you to filter down to smaller groups and instances.

Re: sets
Exactly!!podprod wrote:Hey all:
thats exactly what I have been hoping to do with the program as well.
The ability to create sets of complete songs(arrange still tied to session)
So once you have completed work on lets say 10-20 songs you can create a playlist that strings them together..opening each new one at the end of the first..all improvisational aspects will still be available ..this would simply give us the ability to set up long soundscapes and sets of all live songs at any given moment..
Thoughts..

Re: Copy/Paste Between 2 Instances of Live
Shamelessly bumping this in 2024 because really needing this.
I have a project in which I compose and arrange.
Then I export all of my stems to another project.
Sometimes I have the need to copy over a specific effect that I did not export.
So I tried to open the 2 projects side by side, each in its own instance but the clipboard seems not to be shared.
That is a real shave. Moreover since the clipboard remains when you open a project, copy stuff, open another project in the same instance and then paste that stuff.
It would be not very hard to make this possible (speaking as the programmer I am during the daytime).
