Sillicon Macs: Stability with USB Audio Interfaces

Post by Alien Leg » Sat Nov 09, 2024 11:09 am

Hi guys!

I'm having a strange problem with my M3 Max on latest Sonoma which started to crash/panic (after some time the mac isn't in use) after installing a usb audio interface (Motu M2, but also happened with another interface). Never had problems like this on my non-silicon macs.

I'm trying to decide if it would make sense to do a fresh system install. As this would take many hours, I'd like to know if the problem is widespread or if its has to do with my system (which got transfered via time machine many times over the years).

So, are your macs stable, especially when using sleep mode on your mac? Would an interface with kext drivers like the RME babyface be the solution?

Thanx!

Markus
