Hi guys!
I had Ableton for about 6 months or so that I use to play live with bands and stuff. I also use it as my main instrument in school (EDI). I have gotten in to some issues with midi mappings because i need to get different mappings (with the same controls) to different tracks, almost like different patches that I can switch between live. I was thinking if I could do so by distributing mappings to different midi channels, but I'm not quite sure of how to do so. My thought is to switch between the "patches/channels" with my panorama P4 because it allow me to use some deeper functions with their software. Anyone have any experience with this?
so for example:
In track 1 I have one specifik instrument rack so that I can map the parameters needed for that specifik song we're playing, for example drawbars for an organ and so on. Track 2 I use strings and synths where I need to have different mappings.
I'm sure there are some maxforlive device for this, but I have a hard time understanding them, so if anyone have a tip and could spend some time to explain it I would be grateful.
Bonus question;
If anybody know if I'm able to have my push controller not following the specific tracks highlighted in Ableton (so it's "standalone") then please help me lol.
Hope this makes sense.
My full setup live is:
MacBook Pro M1 Max
Nord stage compact 73
nektar panorama P4
Ableton push 3
Behringer FCB1010 MIDI-Foot Controller
subzero minicontrol
Ableton live, multiple midi mapping patches for different tracks
Re: Ableton live, multiple midi mapping patches for different tracks
I agree. Changing the global midi channel on the fly is probably the way to go.
To clarify, you have one midi controller to control a song specific rack. Then switch to "Song2 Rack", Then "Song3 Rack" etc etc
Do you mean
Song2 receives on cc02
BlueHand is also an option I use. Auto Mapping. Doesn't require any midi mapping. Key map the title bar for each rack, numberpad 0-9, Then 1 key press transfers the bluehand to the next rack, macros are live, ready to control.
But be prepared to suffer midi fever. It can be risky & confusing bouncing between different midi channels, especially in front of an impatient audience

Program changes I think are the original way to do this with midi
